I've listened to it a few times in the last few weeks. I believe technically (mixing wise), its the weakest except GU026. This was live, so we must remember that it was released in early 1997. I never get tired of the Beachball track, just nasty and the coffee boys track. The mix is quite dark but it plays well.

The set was recorded at a gig in Prague, Czech Republic. This is the second and last live recording in the Global Underground series. The subsequent albums are studio recordings inspired by the live sets in the featured cities.

Now that is a tune..... Classic.. I remember Pete Tong finishing with this track at Homelands, Many moons ago.

Nothing really to add to this other than this was my first gu purchase
And I went on to buy all the nick warren gu releases aswell as chosen others

I'm still not the biggest fan of prague. Next week, is the start of fun GU004!.

Anyway, I noticed that this was my first view of nipplefish, tho the mix was gash here. It sounds so much better with the funk function aka lucien foort mix on gu012

I listened to Prague, then went online and started searching Google to see what other people thought about it. I might as well post my opinion here. I thought it was pretty bad.

It's 2012, and I just don't think there was enough in this mix to last the 15 years and still be listenable. You might as well take Cafe Del Mar, Life on Mars, Beachball, Submission and Galaxia, and listen to those, because the rest of the mix is pretty garbage.

No offense to any of you who like this one, but there are better Global Underground mixes out there.

Paul Oakenfold's GU004 Oslo mix is much much better than this one.

That is, if you like mixes for the mixing. If you like mixes just for the tunes there are enough classics on this one to go around...

Don't wanna sound like a twat but for the people who don't rate this mix that highly, i think your either a little too young or you've just give it your first listen recently and have'nt got that nostalgic feeling or are dissapointed with it technically compared to modern standards. Which is fair enough.

Has as been said it's live on a pair of technics and for me is fucking superb.
If you like Nick Warren and cutting edge music then this is the bollocks.
15 years later it still sounds mint.
I've said before and i'll say it again it's my 3rd best GU.
So fuck ya's :)

This is still a great mix and to my ears still sounds good, all this time later.

Both discs are superb. Disc 2 makes you realise what a fantastic tune Cafe Del Mar is (despite it being remixed to death). This is the original version and for me it's still the best.

I agree with everything you say about the mix bud and about how good Cafe Del Mar is, but the original was off about '93, this was actually a remix. Just sayin.

i love nick warren!! much the same as gu 001..this would have been great at the time but not so good now. Nick himself even says that he cant believe he played that kind of music. so hard and intense.
