Markus Schulz – Global DJ Broadcast Classics Showcase – 29-12-2011

I was like WOOHOO!....such choons and then this was a bloody letdown with just I`ll put this here. You expect better from a seasoned deejay like schulz.

Listening now, and have to agree. The tracks are great, but its sounds like my granny mixed it in terms of the way it doesn't flow right. Love the Jammy Spoon though. First bought this in 94 on that Cream album. The one that had a spaceship on the front.

I listened to this twice. Its lifeless and I am not 100% sure why. Its wicked tunes (bar probspot, armin fave) and the mixing is flawless but something is missing. I found it apparent in the mix into Shine (Oakenfold fave), seems a lack of energy and something else. Was it supposed to be a desyn masiello style, where he rarely goes 2bpm from where he starts. You get into Gamemaster and it should be building and building towards the peak but it seems like a train going nowhere, stuck in the station.

I agree with Gareth, its not a lack of class tunes (bar probspot) or mixing but Markus failed to put any life into this mix and it is apparent.

I normally really enjoy Markus Schulz's Classic Showcase mixes, much more so than the rubbish that Armin produces each year with his Year End Mixes that change track every 30 seconds... but after listening to the first 15 minutes of this I'm really not finding anything special.

It could be any faceless, bland DJ that produced this uninspiring mix. It doesn't have the Schulz appeal that his previous mixes have had. Even if his Classic Showcases are more radio-friendly than his usual sets, they still have something that makes them stand out... his mixing is always flawless and his track selection is normally inspiring. But this time, it's just not doing anything for me so far.

Maybe I'm just not in the right kind of mood. Will keep listening, and maybe listen again tomorrow and see if I find it any better.
