When I started making mixes back around 2002,I always enjoyed listening to some of the essential mixes from the BBC radio 1 show,so most of the mixes I made were 2 hours as that was the standard time for an essential mix aside from some shorter ones I made which were an hour or a little longer(70+/- minute demo size). Then I made them a little longer to 2&1/2 hour mixes because that was the max recording time from my Sony MD at the time. Then I started recording them into Ableton Live which is great because I can edit the mix and throw all types of effects into it.I don't make alot of mixes these days because it seems that "making" a mix these days has lost it's luster since it is so easy to make a mix with all the technology out there these days.I'd like to note that of the 100 mixes I have made over the years,95 were recorded from 2 turntables and a mixer and the last 5 were recorded from 2 Pioneer CDJ 1000MK3's and a mixer.Anyways, this mix is the longest to date at 5 hours long. Why make a 5 hour mix?For me,anybody can make a 70 minute mix and in that time you are limited to what you want to express in that mix.The longer mixes for me show endurance and more creativity. You can really take the listener on a journey so to speak. This mix is my example of a clubnight reduced to 5 hours,so give it a listen if you can work while listening to music or if you have a long car ride which is why I always bring a few great long mixes with me.This mix starts out around 125bpm with some tech house, tribal, techno and house in that order. It finishes around 132bpm.I hope you enjoy it as it was a big milestone for me.
